well i dont think i can help with that one,, it comes down to creation of one form or another,darwin was partly right with his theorys, but i think that the whole evolution timeline is out of wack,, i think this because, a queen bee can leave the hive and automaticaly is joined by enough bees to start a new clony and leave the old one still running comfortably,then as they are hanging on a post a few will fly off in diffrent directions looking for a suitable hive site,and one of those bees will find a site how ever far away and work out if it is dry enough with enough room for then ,winter stores ,brood and a bit of expansion of the hive,, then he flys back to the waiting swarm and tells them how to get there,,,how long do you think it took for an insect to have all that built into its instinct,, and how long did it take a chicken to work out that it had to sit on those funny white things for 24 days to get young out of them,,,, me thinks the time line is way longer,,,

I have read that every atom you can see came from an exploding star.
Stephen Hawkings' book 'A Brief history of Time' is probably a good place to start. Or an easier way might be to watch the BBC series - space - hosted by Sam Neil. i remember one amazing scene where Sam was explaining how many stars there are; he was on a beach and he picked up a handful of sand and said "how many grains of sand are in my hand? How many grains of sand are on this beach? For each grain of sand on earth there are one million stars".

Without trying to step on any religious toes or anything, i can give you what i learnt about at uni.

A planet is formed when particles of whatever is floating around in space, be it gas, dust, rocks, asteroids, etc crash together around a sun.  What happends is the more stuff that collides together and amasses, the greater its gravitational pull, which thus pulls a whole lot more crap to it, until a point where the gravitational forces of the forming planet, the sun, and other planets, etc in the solar system are in equilibrium, and the planet stops growing in size.  Basically from then on out im not 100% certain, as its been ages since ive been through that stuff, but basically the atmosphere forms as a result of gases in the solar system, and gases being released during planet formation, etc.

Thats my very simplistic and probably not really correct recollection of what i learned in uni .

I personally believe that when suns explode or supernova they send out particles which i believe are the building blocks of planets and life

hmmmm jonty darwin was sort of right but his idea of time was off by quite a bit,there are three very intelligent people we all should read about, they were freud darwin and wright,all had one thing in common,, they bred pigeons to help work out there theries,and all were known to each other,,and each is an interesting read,, i have a link to a series anyone can download on how the world was made,, very good show,, cheers
