i7 980x old chip its now 990x (better the 600$ one oc via fsb)
asus rampage iii extreme (bad board better gigabyte ud5 rev 2.0)
gskill 8gb ddr3 ram? you need 3x sticks so it 6 or 12g) 1600 ddr3 1.65v (1.5v better)
1tb hdd sata 3 (

?) better a black wd 1tb hdd.)
razer mamba gaming mouse (friend has this =ok)
logitech g19 keyboard (good recommend)
24" monitor 2ms response rate (? model)
antec nine hundred two tower case ? not sure (psu? video card?) (dvd burner?) sound card?
all that 4 $2000
reckon that build is good?
Im upgrading now(just ordered parts)
iv done 5 weeks of intense research .. reviews+ oc+ peoples personal exp with new hardware.
the 2600k will oc to 5g at 1.5v(high voltage) or 4.7 v1.3) vs the 990x(new model) get to 4.7(high voltage) or safe voltage 4.3ghz)
sense all stuff(games) only use 4 core .. 2 extra cores wasted.. + thw cpu that wins is the fastest one(highets mhz)
so the 300$ chips is just running faster than the 990x 1100$ 1366 cpu(fore core use)
the biggest problem is the mboard for the 1155 has low bandwith for 2x video cards.
best for theis is asrock fat 68 or gigabyte ud7 (68 chipset)
if not overclocking the 1155 beter platform...
if putting many raid card(20+ hdds) on board the 1366 better (gigabyte ud5 rec)
gaming machine..
iv done my homework....4 core(games only use up to 4)
the 2600k clocked to 5g is faster than the 990x running at 4.7 (overclocked)
If your not overclocking.. dont bother with 990x. 1366 is been replaced with 2011 socket boards...
get a 2600 or 2500 run it it at default. in a 1155 board.
if overclocking get k chips...
this is what recommend

corsair 1600 ram
facts:
1600 ram good faster gives little improvement on this platform...
best 4 gig sticks at 1.5 or 1.65volts... so its 8 or 16g ram(2 to 4 sticks)
fast hdd wd black 1tb..
pioneer burner (reads sratch disks well(rentals dvds) + burns dl fast)
you need a big psu... 800+ for cpu+ 580 ti (1 x card) or 2x 560 ti in sli) or 1200+ psu for 2x 580 ti card s in sli
)dont skip on crappy psu.. go for the best (i have the 1260w evermax+)
best bang for buck(good speed) 560 ti (must be ti model)
best card 580 ti (or 2x 580 ti)
if not overclocking get a 2500k cpu 1155 . it can clock high... and is at default 3.3 vs 2600k 3.4ghz
samsung best monitors... 3 year dead picx pol... full replace...led monitor best.
case.. you need 120mm fan at back+ 12 mm fan at front + extended long atx case(for blong bigpsu)
i prefer psu at top..(hard to get)
